Mission Branch Welcomes Author Daniel Alarcon on December 11!
Recently
making San Francisco his home, author Daniel Alarcon will visit the Mission
Branch on December 11 to read from and discuss his second novel, At Night We Walk in Circles, published
in October. Alarcon received national recognition with his first book, War by Candlelight published in 2006 at
the age of 29. The collection of short stories was a finalist for the 2006
PEN/Hemingway Foundation Award.
His second
novel, Lost City Radio (2007) made
the lists of best fiction for 2007 of the Washington Post, Booklist, The
Christian Science Monitor, The Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times and The
Financial Times (London). It has been translated to 10 languages. In 2010, The New Yorker named Alarcon one of the
20 promising writers under 40. His writing has appeared in McSweeney’s, n+1, The
New Yorker, and Harper’s magazines.
In addition
to his new novel, Alarcon will be discussing Radio Ambulante, a Spanish-language podcast radio project of Latin
American stories that he co-founded in 2011.

signing hosted by Modern Times Bookstore follows the event.
